Cairo, Aswan, Luxor, Edfu & Kom Ombo

A complete first trip to Egypt for travellers who prefer hotels to a cruise ship. You follow the Nile north from Aswan, stopping at Kom Ombo and Edfu, exactly where the cruise boats stop.

Cairo gets two full days: Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum, then the Citadel, the old museum and Khan el-Khalili.

Tour Highlights

Giza Pyramids Complex

The last standing wonder of the ancient world sits on a desert plateau a few minutes from our hotel. Your Egyptologist explains how three generations of kings turned limestone into eternity, and where to stand for the classic panorama.

Grand Egyptian Museum

The world’s largest museum dedicated to one civilisation. Climb the Grand Staircase lined with royal statues, meet the colossus of Ramses II in the atrium and see the complete Tutankhamun treasure displayed together for the first time.

Citadel of Saladin & Alabaster Mosque

Saladin’s 12th-century fortress crowns a hill above the city. Inside, the Ottoman-style Mosque of Muhammad Ali glows with alabaster, and the terrace offers one of the widest views over Cairo.

Philae Temple

Reached by a short motorboat ride, the island temple of Isis was rescued from the rising Nile and rebuilt stone by stone – one of the most romantic settings in Egypt.

Abu Simbel Temples

Ramses II carved two temples into a mountain near the Sudanese border, guarded by four 20-metre statues of himself. In the 1960s the whole site was cut into blocks and lifted to safety – an epic worth the early start.

Kom Ombo Temple

A rare double temple shared by the crocodile god Sobek and Haroeris, standing right on the riverbank. A small museum next door displays mummified crocodiles.

Edfu Temple of Horus

The best-preserved temple in Egypt, dedicated to the falcon god Horus. Its walls tell the story of Horus’ battle with Seth, and its towering pylon is unforgettable.

Valley of the Kings

Hidden in the Theban hills, the royal necropolis holds more than sixty tombs. Your ticket covers three of them, with colours that still look freshly painted; Tutankhamun’s tomb can be added.

Karnak Temple

The largest religious complex ever built grew over 2,000 years. Walk through the Great Hypostyle Hall, a forest of 134 giant columns, and stand beside the obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

October to April is the most comfortable season for sightseeing, with sunny days around 20–28°C. Summer is hot in Luxor and Aswan but perfect for the Red Sea, and we adjust touring hours to early mornings.

Every itinerary is a starting point. Add days, swap hotels, include a balloon ride or a beach stay – tell us what you would like and we will send an updated plan and price.
